The buzz: Consecutive nights in Nashville without a game will move the curiosity meter. Music City has its entertainment distractions and elite dining experiences. Rick Tocchet is playing the “bonding” card in hopes that his revamped roster builds chemistry away from the rink. “You want guys to have fun,” said the Canucks head coach. “We have a day off (Monday) and I’m really anxious to see how we play.”
The history: The Canucks went 1-0-2 against the Predators last season. They lost 4-3 in a shootout at Rogers Arena on Nov. 5 as Nashville rallied from an early three-goal deficit on the strength of 42 saves by Juuse Saros. It was the fifth time the Canucks had blown a multi-goal lead. Ilya Mikheyev, J.T. Miller and Andrei Kuzmenko scored early for the Canucks. On Feb. 21 in Nashville, Kuzmenko scored his second goal with 16 seconds left in regulation, but the Canucks fell 5-4 in a shootout. On March 6 at Rogers Arena, Elias Pettersson scored his 30th goal of the season and had the shootout winner in a 4-3 triumph.

The hope: The Canucks play hard in a tough building and draw penalties to allow their third-ranked power play (37.5 per cent) to make a difference to close out their five-game road trip. The Predators have struggled on the penalty kill (66.7 per cent) that ranks third worst.
The fear: The Canucks play well in the opening frame, have another second-period sag, and are forced to find their game in the third stanza. Consistency has been the biggest challenge and it can’t wane Tuesday.
The top guns: The Fab Four look like they’re on a mission. Pettersson has 10 points (2-8), Miller has eight (2-6), Quinn Hughes has picked up his puck wizardry with five points (1-4), and Thatcher Demko has stopped 93 of 100 shots.
The wounded: Canucks: Teddy Blueger (ankle), Guillaume Brisebois (concussion, LTIR). Predators: Cody Glass (lower body), Luke Schenn (lower body, IR), Egor Afanasyev (undisclosed, season-opening IR).

The quote: “It’s our play through the neutral zone. We’re allowing too many shots. Guys are skating backwards when we should press up. We don’t want to back off when we have the lead and we have to shake off that mindset. We’re chipping away at it.” — Rick Tocchet.
The lineup: Mikheyev-Pettersson-Kuzmenko/Di Giuseppe-Miller-Boeser/Joshua-Suter-Lafferty/Beauvillier-Studnicka-Garland/Hughes-Hronek/Cole-Myers/Soucy-Friedman.
The prediction: The Canucks shouldn’t lack incentive. Their best players have been their best players, but they need more from bottom-six mix. Anthony Beauviller has dropped to the fourth line, has no points and just six shots through five games. Canucks score twice on power play and prevail 5-3.
