Digital Myths – Olena Strekalova’s Solo Exhibition in Folkestone

On July 14-15, 2025, Eight Squared Gallery in Folkestone, UK, opened its doors to Digital Myths – a solo exhibition by Ukrainian contemporary artist Olena Strekalova.

Known for her distinctive fusion of Art Nouveau aesthetics with digital painterly techniques, theatrical elements, and ornate patterns, Strekalova creates multi-layered, symbolically charged works where worlds of fantasy intertwine with personal and cultural archetypes. Her art speaks in a language both intimate and universal, reimagining visual traditions through a modern lens.

The exhibition presented four signature series: the ornamental modernist fantasy narrative Beyond the Known Worlds, a visual homage to Caucasian aesthetics Georgian Impact, the unconventional female portraits of The Spectre of Femininity, and the vibrant theatrical allure of the Burlesque Series. Together, these collections formed a unified aesthetic statement, showcasing the artist’s depth of vision, technical mastery, and fearless creativity.

Digital Myths proved to be a captivating encounter between eras, styles, and ideas – a celebration of artistic courage and boundless imagination. Seeing Olena Strekalova’s name on a poster is a guarantee of high-quality art – an experience you will never regret.
