Banff Centre hires new visual arts director

“I am assured that my skills and encounter will make a positive contribution to Banff Centre as it proceeds its part as one of the most crucial and transformative destinations for artists in the world.”

BANFF – The Banff Centre has a new director to oversee all programming and residencies within just the visible arts realm.

Ingrid Mary Percy, who was declared as the new director of Visible Arts and Residencies Sept. 14, has a keep track of monitor document as an educator at the post-secondary level, as an administrator, an artist, and an arts advocate.

“The Visual Arts and Residency application is a cornerstone of our inventive basis and talent development stream,” said  Janice Cost, president and CEO of Banff Centre.

“I am thrilled with the knowledge, enthusiasm and management that Ingrid will deliver to the part of Visible Arts director.”

For much more than two many years, Percy has been a working towards visible artist, educator and cultural leader in Canada, exhibiting her work domestically, nationally and internationally, and functioning in publish-secondary institutions – the University of Victoria, Emily Carr College of Art + Design, and Memorial College of Newfoundland.

Percy also writes, curates, and plays audio. A solid believer in local community service and advocacy, she has served on the boards of many non-profits together with Open up Space, Eastern Edge, Visible Artists Newfoundland and Labrador, and Canadian Artists’ Illustration/Les front des artistes canadiens (CARFAC) Countrywide, exactly where she was vice-president, president, and earlier-president.

She was chair of the Visible Arts Plan, Graduate Officer of the MFA Application and affiliate professor in the Visible Arts Application in the University of Wonderful Arts at Memorial University of Newfoundland and, most not too long ago, interim dean of the College of Wonderful Arts.

Visual Arts at Banff Centre gives excellent programs for professional artists, curators, art critics and scientists, as nicely as practicum possibilities for rising practitioners. Visible Arts also supports, develops, and offers up to date artwork by the Walter Phillips Gallery.

The on-campus residency programs provide the time, studio place, facilities, comments, and engagement with friends and school to hone artistic progress. Both thematic and self-directed courses encourage experimentation and exploration of strategies, idea, and method.

Percy explained she was thrilled to be becoming a member of the Banff Centre group.

“I am confident that my expertise and expertise will make a constructive contribution to Banff Centre as it carries on its purpose as one of the most critical and transformative places for artists in the world,” she stated.
