New show hopes to wake the ground in Maple Ridge

A Sobey-nominated artist will be showcased in a solo exhibit at the ACT Artwork Gallery.

Manuel Axel Pressure, a two-spirit artist from the Musqueam, Simpcw, and Syilx peoples, will be featured in a clearly show termed Waking Floor. The exhibition is the fourth of five planned displays for the 2023/24 period of visible arts.

Pressure received a long-checklist nomination for the 2022 Sobey Artwork Award, which, according to the ACT Art Gallery, is a single of the most generous prizes for modern day artists from around the environment, that is structured and offered by the Nationwide Gallery of Canada.

Waking Ground will incorporate a assortment of mediums including: painting, pictures, sculpture, installation, and movie.
